Speak with Confidence: Empowering Your Voice with Emprezz Golding

9/10/2025

Have you ever walked into a room, heart racing, palms sweaty, and your mind full of ideas—but the words just won’t come out? Or perhaps you’ve wanted to speak up in a meeting, a classroom, or even at home, but fear of judgment held you back.

I’m Emprezz Golding, and over the past 20 years as a media professional, motivational speaker, and youth advocate, I’ve learned that confidence in communication is not just about speaking—it’s about showing up as your authentic self.

Whether you’re engaging with children, colleagues, or an audience of thousands, your voice is your power. And today, I want to help you harness it.

1. Your Words Are Your Identity
Every time you speak, you’re sharing a piece of who you are. The way you express yourself communicates your values, your knowledge, and your intentions. When you choose your words carefully, you’re not just talking—you’re defining your presence.

2. Clarity Beats Quantity
It’s not about saying more; it’s about saying what matters. Overexplaining can confuse your listeners or dilute your message. Instead, aim for concise, clear communication. Powerful words, delivered with purpose, leave a lasting impact.

3. Ask Before You Assume
Misunderstandings happen. When you’re unsure about what someone means, don’t react immediately.
Ask: “What did you hear me say?”
This simple question fosters clarity and shows that you value mutual understanding over ego.

4. Honesty Wrapped in Respect
Difficult conversations don’t have to be uncomfortable. Be honest and direct, but always lead with respect. For example:
“I need to share something that may be hard to hear, but I’m saying this because I respect you.”
Authenticity resonates far more than sugar-coated words.

5. Take Your Space
When faced with negativity or disrespect, pause. A well-timed silence demonstrates composure and ensures your response comes from confidence, not emotion. You own your space when you don’t rush to react.

6. Focus on the Issue, Not the Person
Blame kills collaboration. Instead, focus on solving the problem together:
“The project isn’t complete. How can we fix it?”
By separating the person from the problem, you invite teamwork rather than defensiveness.

7. Breathe Before You Speak
Pausing before responding isn’t weakness—it’s power. A calm, deliberate start sets the tone, helping you communicate with poise and clarity.

8. Connect Authentically
In any conversation, focus on genuine connection rather than sheer quantity. Ask meaningful questions like:
“What’s inspiring you today?”
True engagement builds trust, rapport, and influence.

9. Be Measured, Not Overwhelming
Share enough to be impactful, but resist overloading others with too much information. Your words are a well, not a waterfall—let people drink from your insights thoughtfully.

10. Set Your Intentions
Every conversation benefits from clear goals and values. Ask yourself:
  • What outcome am I hoping for?
  • How do I want to show up?
Your intentions guide your tone, your phrasing, and your energy—ensuring your message lands exactly as you mean it.

11. Reflect on Your Impact
After conversations, reflect:
“Who do my words say that I am?”
This simple check helps you stay aligned with your identity, your purpose, and your personal brand.

Your Voice MattersConfidence in speaking isn’t just for media personalities—it’s for moms navigating conversations with children, youth leading initiatives, professionals owning their boardrooms, and anyone who wants to show up fully in their life.

Your voice is powerful. Own it, shape it, and use it to inspire, educate, and uplift.
As I always say, whether on stage, in front of a camera, or at your kitchen table--let your words tell the story of who you truly are.
